Today, the town has a strong following in tourism that has stemmed from its history. From Halloween happenings based on the Witchcraft history to the Friendship replica, a remake of a tall fishing ship from the late 1700’s, Salem is continuously on the radar of many. It is noted for being a bustling downtown with countless restaurants, shops and cafes all playing a part in its recognition when winning the “Best Shopping District” award of 2012.
